New French Press

Bodum French Press Coffee MakerT. picked up a new Bodum French press maker for his morning coffee. He likes to get up in the morning and turn on the heat for the house then put on the water kettle before loading his French press coffee maker with grounds. Then he hops back in bed waiting for the whistle. When the water is ready, he fills his French press with water and fills an empty coffee cup with the remaining hot water to warm his cup.

He comes back to bed one more time after setting the timer for three minutes. Lordy, lordy, don’t get in his way when that timer goes off; it doesn’t matter if lightning were to strike the house moments before his coffee is ready. When that timer goes off he hops out of bed and always with seven steps, gets to the kitchen and pours his coffee then goes on the porch for a smoke.

What he likes about it is that he can’t taste the residue flavor of paper from a filter or cloth from a sock; coffee sock – not foot sock. He has been complaining for the past few weeks about the flavor of paper since I started using the Melitta style of making coffee in the morning and I can see his point. When you are brewing a 10 or 12 cup pot of coffee, the flavor of the filter eventually trickles down to zero but with a one-cup, the flavor of paper isn’t dispersed small enough to make it unnoticeable.
